Director of Bands
Mr. Torre Goodson was born in Chicago, Illinois, but raised in East Point Georgia. He is a product of the Fine Arts Magnet Program at North Atlanta High School. His musical career started in the church, then in school, and eventually, what he considers a passion became a full-time job.
Mr. Goodson holds a Master's Degree in Music Education from Boston University, and an undergraduate Music Education degree from Albany State University, where he marched with the Marching Ram Show Band and served as Percussion section Leader and later, Percussion Instructor. He also played drum set for the ASU jazz band and was principal percussion for the ASU symphonic band. While in college, he played for 2 years as a member of the GMEA all-college band, and served as Principal percussion for the HBCU National Band Director's Consortium.
Mr. Goodson's professional experience in teaching instrumental music groups spans every level of education from conducting middle school ensembles, high school ensembles, and collegiate groups in various styles including serving as the Associate Director of Bands at CAU since 2016.
Currently, Mr. Goodson is devoted to music education full-time. His professional credits include several studio recordings, commercial compositions, percussion work at several large churches in the Atlanta, Ga area as well as ministry and outreach through choir workshops and activities. Mr. Goodson is a regionally sought percussion and band clinician, and is a Ludwig/Conn-Selmer Educator Artist. It is his hope that as a band director, he is able to elevate the Mighty Marching Panther Band into an unprecedented era of Pageantry, Musicianship, and Performance.
